The American Church in Paris at 65 quai d'Orsay, the oldest American church established on foreign soil with ties leading back to even before 1814, lights its spire for the first time ever as a dramatic part of its 150th anniversary celebration ... on October 13th, 2007.
The several month long celebration included receptions at the American Embassy with Ambassador and Mrs. Craig R. STAPLETON and at the Paris' 7th arrondissement city hall with Mayor, Michel DUMONT ... talks by Alonzo L. McDonald, asssistant to former President Jimmy Carter, and Jonathan Aiken, biographer of former President Richard Nixon ... a cabaret evening with jazz singer, Joan Minor ... a special concert with Minju Choi, piano, Kristor Hustad, Tenor, Aviva Timonier, Soprano, Laurana Mitchelmore, Piano, Carol mundinger, Clarinet, the Sotto Voce Children's choir, directed by Scott Alan Prouty, the Madrigal Singers from the Philippines and the American Church Adult Choir and Bronze Bell Ringers, directed by Fred Gramman ... a play written by Christa Lesté-Lasserre and directed by Antonio Gonzalez, a basketball exhibition game in the newly renovated ACP gymnasium, a boat ride on the Seine, international meals and refreshments by the Philippine and African fellowships ... pastors present included Revs T. Duggan, L. Poag, L. Kalajainen, C. Blair, A. Aronis, J. Hustad, K. Stenman, S. Rice, C. Simpson, K. Halac, G. Strickland ... the President of the AFCU, American and Foreign Christian Union, Gregg Foster, and board members were present for the commemorative ceremony.
